Steve:
The Buttonwoods Dog Park in Warwick, Rhode Island is located off of 117. The park can be hard to find since the entrance is at neighborhood and the dog park itself has not signage pointing in the right direction. When you get to Buttonwoods, drive past the main parking lot and follow the road until you see the dog park on your right. The dirt parking lot will indicate you’ve arrived.
The park is next to a soccer field, a baseball diamond, playground, and a street hockey ring so it’s a great spot to bring the dog if the family is already in the area. Many patrons love the fact that they can walk their dog on the path around the park and end up in a closed off-leash dog park. The park itself has a short fence that surrounds 2 sections, one for small dogs and a larger section for big dogs. Unfortunately, the big down section is mostly sand and dust, which is easier to maintain but turns into a dust bowl on occasion. There are double gates leading into both.
For amenities, the Buttonwoods Dog Park has poop bags and empty trash cans but few places to sit in the small dog section. Patrons have left chairs since the city didn’t provide any and if you want to sit in the shade your best bet is in the large dog section underneath the trees. Like most dog parks, Buttonwoods doesn’t have any running water so be sure to bring your own. The park is always a happening spot so if you want your dog to make some friends stop by and then leave your thoughts below.
