Steve:

The Barrington Paw Park, otherwise known as the Kimberly Peroit Memorial Dog Park, is located within Haynes Park, half a mile from 103. The dog park is behind the baseball diamond, and they share a shaded parking lot, which keeps your car cool during the summer. This off-leash dog park utilizes the space of an old baseball diamond with one side of the fence being the back of the outfield. Unlike many other dog parks, Barrington does not have a small dog section, which opens up the area. While some small dog owners worry about their pets being bullied, it appeared that many small dogs use their Napoleon complex to their advantage and held their own with larger dogs. Either way, dog owners were respectful and made sure their pets behaved. This flat park is perfect for dogs to chase balls, rough house, and relax in the sun or shade, while always visible by their owner.

Looking at the amenities, there is only one bench in dedication to Kimberly Peroit and during the afternoon, it’s directly in the sun. However, the park is surrounded by trees, so during the day, there is always some shade. There are poop bags and trash cans provided, two double gates, but no running water, so be sure to bring your own. Another downside is the fact that the park can get dark in the evening because there are no lights and it’s isolated from street lamps, but the unused baseball diamond next to the park is the perfect place for kids to play away from the dogs, and allows parents to watch both their children, human and canine. The Barrington Paw Park is a great dog park for the family. Check it out for yourself, and tell us your thoughts below.
