Steve: The Franklin Dog Park is located in Dacey Field on Lincoln Street. This beautiful dog park was started by a Franklin Middle School student as a community service project and has become a great success.
Newly created in 2011, the Franklin Dog Park is in the best shape possible; the parking lot is shared with the neighboring fields and playgrounds, but is large enough to accommodate everyone.
Right down the hill you’ll find a new fence enclosing the mulch-covered dog park, while some people may head over to the Medway Dog Park for a slightly larger space; The Franklin Dog Park seems to be a tighter-run operation.
The mulch keeps the dogs clean, and the large rock in the park is perfect for dogs to run and jump off of, or chase each other around. The large trees all around the park provide plenty of shade for those hot and sunny days; but there is no running water, many patrons bring their own water and leave it for others when they leave, but I suggest bringing your own ways.
There are poop-scoopers and bags to keep the park clean, along with recycling, trash and dog-poop disposal. While your dog runs around you can relax or even do work at the picnic tables provided, some are in the shade and some are in the sun, take your pick. If you bring the kids, canine and human, don’t worry, there’s a kid’s playground right next door so everyone can have fun.
If you want to become a member of The Franklin Dog Park be sure to sign out a membership online or at the park. Swing by the park for yourself and tell us what you think below.
